Academic & Leadership Camps
91福利社 is proud of its diverse range of extracurricular activities offered to students across the entire campus. These activities give the students the chance to develop a variety of skills outside of the classroom context, no matter what their ability level or interest area.
Middle and Senior School students have the opportunity to participate in various extracurricular camps to extend their skill and knowledge base beyond the classroom environment. Locations include Magnetic Island, Orpheus Island, and the Paluma Rainforest.
Writers' Camp
Location
Gumburu Environmental Education Centre, Paluma Rainforest.
Overview
Year 7 to Year 12. Writing skills and workshops from a guest author.
Length
3 days, 2 nights
Details
Activities include reading circles, writing techniques, group and individual workshops with professional author, completion of at least one full narrative.
Maths Camp (Year 10)
Location
Apex Campground, Magnetic Island.
Overview
Team-based math challenges and games.
Length
3 days, 2 nights
Details
A rotation of engaging mathematics and problem-solving activities for Year 10 students which utilise items and locations at Magnetic Island. The camp is designed to give students the opportunity to engage with the subject in ways that are often difficult to facilitate in a classroom setting.
Music Camp
Location
Apex Campground, Magnetic Island.
Overview
Symphonic Band and Chamber Strings Camp for Year 7 to Year 12 music students.

3 days, 2 nights
Details
Providing students with the opportunity for intensive learning and development in their ensemble and to work together as a Symphony Orchestra under the
guidance of a guest conductor. The camp will also encourage students to work as a team and is a place where we get to learn a little more about each other.
Biology Camp (Year 12)
Location
Orpheus Island Research Station.
Overview
Marine environment field research in collaboration with JCU.
Length
3 days, 2 nights
Details
As part of the Senior Biology program students must complete several Mandatory Practicals. In Unit 3, the focus is on students developing skills in sampling ecological systems, organising and analysing data and developing ecological models to describe and explain the diversity and interconnectedness of life on Earth.
Leadership Training Day (Year 11)
Location
Mercure Hotel Conference Room.
Overview
Full day seminar preparing our prospective student leaders for their Prefect role in Year 12.

1 day (8:30am – 5:30pm)
Details
Representatives from run a half day seminar on ‘Maximising the Badge’ followed by instructional and interactive information sessions on leading committees effectively and developing leadership skills delivered by the Deputy Principal/Head of Senior School and Heads of House.
